Prosthetic approach using titanium mesh for rehabilitation of frontal bone defect: A Case Report
نویسندگان
چکیده
The cosmetic and functional disabilities following radical surgery for traumatic injuries are significant and disabling. Definitive reconstruction should be performed wherever possible as part of the ablative procedure. When definitive reconstruction is coordinated and combined with maxillofacial prosthetic rehabilitation, head and neck defects can be restored to near-normal function and appearance in many cases. Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) has been extensively used as a dental prosthetic and as a cranial-bone substitute for years. It is a very reliable thermoplastic that can be prefabricated or even molded intraoperatively to create an adequate prosthesis. From this case report, we propose to describe some personal points of view concerning the repair of large cranial defects, incoperating titanium mesh in PMMA to fabricate the definitive prosthesis.

Prosthetic Rehabilitation of Nasal Defect: A Case Report
Abstract Facial defects not only impact on the function and quality of life but also affect the psychological well-being and social behavior of patients. A nasal prosthesis can re-establish the esthetics and anatomical contour in patients with mid-facial defects, often more effectively than surgical reconstruction. For successful results, many factors such as retention, texture, color match ...
متن کاملCombined surgical and prosthetic approach for rehabilitation of frontonasal defect using custom made titanium implant: a case report
Cranial vault deformities as a sequelae to trauma may be as high as 70%. The basic indications for cranioplasty are improvement of disfigured aesthetics and to provide protection to the intra-cranial contents. The possibility of producing custom-made implants opened a new era in the reconstructive surgery of the craniofacial deformities. The outcome of craniofacial bone reconstruction is though...
متن کاملProsthetic Reconstruction for a Child with a Congenital Bilateral Ear Deformity: Case Report
Objectives: Microtia is the most commonly seen congenital ear defect, and involves an auricular deformity either unilaterally or bilaterally. The aim of this study was to fabricate silicone prostheses for a child with bilateral microtia using an innovative technique. Methods: This method involved the construction of bilateral ear prostheses using clips, which were located within the layers o...
متن کاملRidge augmentation with titanium mesh for implant rehabilitation using a stereolythographic model
Adequate amount of alveolar bone is critical for achieving functional prosthetic rehabilitation with adequate aesthetics and biomechanical support. Several techniques have been developed for osseous reconstruction in atrophic upper and lower jaws. Ridge augmentation is an accepted successful method used in dental practice to increase bone volume in sites chosen for dental implant placement. Tit...
متن کاملModified Anterior Craniofacial Osteotomy Using Partial Nasal Bone Division and Reconstruction in Frontoethmoidal Sinus Meningioma
Typical transcranial approaches are insufficient for adequate visualization and resection of skull base tumors. Different approaches with multiple modifications have been attempted. Here, we describe a new approach for a lesion that is central and hard to treat by conventional craniotomy and successful reconstruction with calvarial bone graft and titanium mesh plate. A 69-year-old female patien...
